W. Bradley "Brad" Zehner II, Ph.D.
Dr. Zehner teaches business strategy, finance, and marketing
at the George L. Graziadio School of Business and Management
of Pepperdine University. Dr. Zehner began teaching at Pepperdine
in 1980 as an adjunct professor. In 1989, he joined Pepperdine's
full time faculty to teach in the MBA and the executive MS in
Technology Management programs. He has also taught fully employed
MBA students at Clark University and undergraduates at the University
of Arizona. He has lectured on technology issues at Clemson University
and North Carolina State University.
Dr. Zehner's current research interests include leadership
and the interaction of strategy and technology. He has given
presentations on leadership, strategic management, global business,
and technology management at eighteen international conferences,
and has published in the areas of plastics and textile technologies.
Since 1986, Dr. Zehner has consulted on strategic and marketing
issues with many technology-based organizations such as The British
Technology Group (UK), Egan Machinery (US), Geffen Engineering
(Thailand), Intel-Embedded Memories (US), The Jaka Group (Philippines),
Leesona (US), Rotomec (Italy and Finland), Strategic Innovations
International (UK), Symantec-Norton Utilities (US), and Syncor
International (US).
From 1968 to 1986, Dr. Zehner held a number of executive positions
in strategic planning, new product development and introduction,
and global marketing and sales including President-Worldwide
Sales and Marketing for the $350 million John Brown Machinery
Group composed of 12 machinery companies in five countries. He
was simultaneously Managing Chairman of four $6-$10 million companies
in the US, UK (JB Sales), France (REPI), and Hong Kong (JB Asia).
Dr. Zehner was also Vice-President of Strategic Planning for
the 26 automation, machine tool, plastics machinery, textile
machinery, and electronics companies in 13 countries comprising
the $450 million Industrial Products Sector of John Brown PLC-London.
Dr. Zehner is currently on the board of directors of Haskel
International, a $70 million public company. Haskel International,
headquartered in Burbank, California with operations throughout
Europe and Asia, is the world leader in pneumatically activated
high pressure pumps (up to 250,000 psi).
Dr. Zehner earned his Ph.D. in Strategic Management from the
Claremont Graduate School (1996). His dissertation was titled,
"Management Dilemmas Define Leadership Styles: A Quantitative
Exploration of Qualitative Badaracco-Ellsworth Leadership Paradigm."
Dr. Zehner also earned a MA in Psychology from Pepperdine University
(1983), a MS in marketing from the University of Southern California
(1970), an MBA in finance from the University of Southern California
(1968), and a BA in political science from the University of
California at Riverside (1966).
He is a member of the Academy of Management, American Marketing
Association, American Psychological Association, and the Strategic
Management Society.
